It’s cold. Very cold. -20 degrees celsius cold. No reasonable excuse for human beings to tolerate this, let alone live in it.

Yet they do. The town grew up as a construction link building the spur between the Trans Siberian Railway and Dalian in China. Today it’s probably most famous for its annual winter festival that features incredible ice sculptures. More an ice city at the main park dedicated to the display.
