Has to be the most photographed view in Hong Kong. Clear skies aren’t that common in HK in the summer so a clear evening seems to bring out every photographer in the place.
Along Lugard Rd about 500m is probably the best place to capture the view. When I arrived around 4:00pm there were already around 20 photographers there. With everything from stereo camera rigs, broadcast quality video cameras, medium format cameras with with exotic digital capture backs - down to all sorts of consumer cameras and phones. This image wasn’t taken until 19:40 by which time the place was packed.
Just another illustration that preparedness and patience are often required.
The first image on this outing was take at 18:55 and captures the sunset in its last stages. There are 40 minutes between this image and the first one which illustrates how critical timing can be. Completely different mood, very difference colour temperature.
By 20:00 the mood and tone of the scene had changed dramatically again. Only one hour from first to last image in this series, all from the same vantage point, yet quite different photographs.
