No Expectations

March isn't perhaps the most obvious time to go to Ha Long Bay. It's early spring and a blanket of mist pervades the bay. Photography was difficult. Low light, no contrast, boat movement; interesting subjects a long way away. I didn't download any images until back in Hanoi and I fully expected to be very disappointed. In the photos - not the trip. However on review I could see that the images had a special feeling. The landscapes like Chinese ink drawings. The portraits with a study and intensity I didn't expect.
