Pha That Luang is a Buddhist Stupa and National Monument of Laos. Built originally in the 16C on early Khmer ruins, it was destroyed during a Thai invasion of the 19C and subsequently rebuilt. During the early morning the square in front of the stupa is a popular place for exercise and relaxation. The dawn sun reflects warmly off the gold leaf.
